The PR student

Hello,

My name is Amanda Sedlmeier and I am a Junior at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater studying PR. I am 20 years old and have 2 sisters and an older brother. I just recently changed my major from Special Education to PR, and thus am very excited to get started on learning about PR and what it's all about. I am taking several core PR classes and am also taking classes in advertising as well. Recently I was asked where I would want to be in 10 years, I hope to being working in a PR corporation through some type of sport. My dream job would be to work as a PR representative for the Packers or the Brewers, or any Milwaukee team in general. I would also be interested in working in a large corporation such as Kohls or Target.
During my time here at Whitewater, I have found myself very comfortable with myself. I have developed several close friends that I will have lasting friendships with forever. I also have made job advancements in my time here at Whitewater. I have been a manager at a local dining hall for 2 years now, and enjoy my role as a manager very thoroughly.

  1. It's so awesome that you found what you want to do! But I'm really curious on why you switched your mind?! Knowing what you want to do is very important, as a sophomore it is really hard for me to realize what I want to do with my future, therefore I am taking core classes in PR as well.

  2. I changed my major just like you did recently. I feel like we both are happy we made some changes! I think you have really good goals for yourself and it is great that you are excited to start your PR classes. Going in with a positive attitude is the best things possible! Good luck with your semester!
